I can now tie a torniquet, palpate for the juiciest vein, poke an IV needle straight in, draw out some blood to confirm venous access, then inject 10mg dexamethasone right in, SINGLE-HANDEDLY, since I did that on my left arm! I’m now a qualified intravenous drug user! next: inserting an endotracheal tube into my throat if I stop breathing.

Nope antihistamine was completely insufficient for my hypersensitivity to Latino bugs

having an evening off: came to town and stole wifi from a bar. infested by 400+ mosquito and sandfly bites and 80+ tick bites (and many more unknown bugs’) on first 3 days, all inflammed. rashes look like sepsis but don’t blanche. had quite an anaphylactic reaction and took antihistamine. otherwise all good. still comp…lete and no serious tropical diseases yet. photos (of rashes) coming soon.

At airport gate 21… leaving for a place where telephones, Internet and any contact with the outside world is a luxury. the only time I can make a call is when I need an emergency medical evauation by a helicopter. so if you don’t hear from me this month, that means I’m still alive. no news from me is good news. see y…ou all in may, hopefully still in a single piece!

Sleeping under the stars

Lucci slept literally under the stars in mont blanc at subzero degrees with only a sleeping bag n a baseball jacket and no tent; but still managed to wake up alive with a body temperature of 37 n ten toes still intact.

to get warmth fir hands held neck
spent night feeling carotid pulse, to monitor my pulse and to make sure that I am still alive!
Oxygen saturation was taken the next morning. 93%.
