[Panoramized]

I’ve waited for so long,

finally

I’m publishing my very first BOOK—

[PANORAMIZED]
-A panoramic collection of my humanitarian trips to South America and Africa

A Book made all by myself, not like a part of another book, or a page in a magazine. ALL MINE.

All those sleepless nights doing all kinds of  tedious editing, scanning, arranging, pai barn, talking to + bargaining with printing/publishing companies etc in the middle of my exams has been much more exhausting than I expected. Fell asleep in front of my dear iMac so many times – on top of a pile of anatomy notes. I do hope they will be well paid off.

Sorry friends for being kinda anti-social for the past 3 weeks, going home straight away after school everyday and not coming out during weekends, then looking like shit at school everyday. V Show has delayed my work schedule a great deal (excuses excuses…. )

Well, I realized I havent proof read enough though, since rite after everything’s sent to printing I found quite a few flaws in the illustrations, as well as a significant amount of grammatical errors in the text. I was like wtf-how-could-i-not-notice-that… Well, couldn’t care less now, too tired… Only gonna print 200 copies anyway, this is afterall my sort of experiment to get to know Hong Kong’s market in this field, to understand how it’s like to have a book published. All I wanted is experience for any future work.

Life as a freelancerXdoctor-in-training is NOT easy

Anyways, it will be sold at

Kubrick Bookstore, YMT:
23 Dec – 3 Jan

and

Page One, Times Square:
8 Jan – 21 Jan

$98 - profits will be donated to one of the humanitarian organization I’ve joined during the past year. I haven’t really decided which one yet, probably Children International Ecuador: so stay tuned.

請多多支持

From today onwards, 100% of my time will be devoted to studying!!

Nov 18

It’s been a year

18 nov.

Baby,
It’s been a year.
One hard year of severe mental torturing.

I’m sorry to have hurted you, SO badly that you chose to leave me.

Baby, I’m sorry.

I took you for granted, due to the fact that I didn’t realize how irreplacable you were until you left.
I’m really sorry, I do regret what I’ve done, from the bottom of my heart,
and I respect your decision to leave.

It puts me in agony whenever I think of you,
and it breaks my heart just by looking at the photos we took together.

The good old days, you and me, dining together, laughing together, basically doing everything together….
and I wonder if you still remember me now…

It’s too late now. I know you’ll never come back to me. Never.

From now on I’ll learn to treasure what I have,
learn to put myself together, stand up and walk without you,
and I look forward to a brand new life,

for it’s been a year since the day I faced the trauma of losing you…

…my 4 front teeth…

…thanks to baseball

baseball, such a scary sport

“Decades have passed since rotator cuff injuries and the surgery to repair them have put pitchers’ careers in jeopardy. But, of course, most of Martinez’s problems since 2001 have been “south of the border” as he said in August. And that was before he added a torn muscle in his left calf to the maladies that have beset him since late summer last year — inflamed toe on his right foot, inflamed right hip and torn muscle in his right calf.”

–from mlb.com; Concerning Pedro Martinez, New York Mets #45

Torn muscles and ligaments; dislocation or inflammation at every possible joint; even broken teeth together with chopped up lips and gum…

Baseball…. such a scary sport…
Why am I still playing it

Quisiero ir a quito

My host family in Ecuador still sends me email regularly, like once a week. Since she doesn’t understand any english, all her emails were in Spanish, and she told me she does that to make sure I can keep up with that language. And in every other email, she asks about how my teeth are doing (cos I had that accident a week b4 I arrived her place)

Sometimes I get a bit lazy, and I’d just chuck everything into an online translator and simply clicked ‘english to spanish’

Guess what her reply goes ‘I am very happy about the improvement of your Spanish’ in spanish.

I really miss her.

Will I go to Ecuador again in the near future? or even…. in the next few years?

She’s an old lady living alone in the city center of Quito, Capital of Ecuador.

I start to wonder if I’ll ever get to see her again.

Quisiero ir a quito… esta ciudad y las personas, me gustan mucho…

all-chinese community

erm…

it feels weird to be in an all-chinese community again

feels kinda funny when it comes to bilingual lectures (chinese + english)

probably cantonese used to mean off-school/less formal occations/hanging out with friends, while english=school/lectures

can’t really get into the mood of really-serious-lectures yet

well, at least chinese-accent-english is easier to understand than greek-accent, who cares about pronouncing the greek alphabets perfectly anyway, haha

it’s like back to my good old junior high school days back in hk, only without a school uniform…

cool, though

bitter-sweet

It gives me such a bitter-sweet feeling just looking through the photos I’ve taken during the past year.

Is that it? Is that the end of my gap year?

Am I once again back to yet another few years of hectic school life?

sighs

I miss South America

I miss Africa

When do I get to go there again?

haha, my cellphone ran out of battery b4 the match and i switched it off; when i got home and switched it back on, there were like 4 txt messages popping out,

‘Hey, are you singing their national anthem?’

my answer is, i know how to sing the ecuador anthem, i was taught when i was living there, but i’m still too young to die. and i dont want to die in hard rock cafe.

‘wakakaakaka let’s watch england’s next match together!!!!!’

my answer is, sure, no probs, whichever team they’re playing against, i will be on that side

2006 FIFA World Cup

The 2006 FIFA World Cup starts in exactly a day…
Lucci Lugee Liyeung has something to announce:

I am ONLY supporting 2 teams

ECUADOR

and

ANY TEAMS PLAYING AGAINST USA

Yes, I’ve turned into an Ecuadorean after living there for a while,

but why? why USA?
This dates from sometime in March, someone I’ve met somewhere in Africa:

I was right in between 2 projects so I had to stay a night in a youth hostel in Windhoek, Capital of Namibia. There were 8 people in a room and I was the only girl.

There was that American guy about my age in the room, he greeted me when he got in:

Hello…. you’re american?

Lucci: Uh… well I was born in the states, raised in Hong Kong

American: I KNEW you were american!! *laughs*

Lucci: Kind of

American: What’s that book you’re reading?

L: The Great Influenza

A: Oh I’ve read that book, it mentioned the bird flu too, rite?

*Then we started chatting about that book and bird flu*

A: How’s the bird flu situation in China, do you know?

L: It isn’t as bad as South East Asia

A: How many people are there in China now, 8 billion?

L: NO WAY! nearing 1.5 billion!

A: Well, when it goes up to the billions it doesn’t make a difference how many billions it is…

L: Well….

A: You know, I really wish that the bird flu would explode in China, and wipe out at least 90% of the population. It’s such a country with only quantity but no quality

L: Have you noticed you’re talking to a Chinese?

A: Hahahaha….

L: Think about it, if there’s bird flu in China, it’ll spread over to the states before you could even notice, consider how close these 2 countries are now, the connections, and with the power of globalization….

A: Hey, the world will come to an end when something like this happens to the US, you see everything in the world depends on the states now, Economically, Politically, everything, the world’s gonna collapse

L: So you mean the world will come to an end when a serious flu epidemic reaches China

A: Well, [I didnt concentrate on the rest since I was trying to read my book, but it was sth about politics]

*Politics… Religion…. 2 topics I always try to avoid since it gets way too heated, and always end up in fights*

A: Hey what sports do you play?

L: Baseball, I really enjoy watching the Japs play in the MLB

A: Argh, they all suck…. Look at that whatsoever Matsui, the so-called Godzilla, look how crap he played in the states, The other Matsui is even worse. These japs can’t play. There’s only one person who can still do well after immigrating into the states

L: Ichiro Suzuki

A: Yea, that’s the only good japanese player there is.

L: Right, you root any teams?

A: Argh, I hate the Yanks, the red sox, dodgers, giants, cardinals, white sox…….. [forgot the rest]

L: Basically, you hate every team

A: Heck, no…. hey, you’re gonna watch the world cup soccer?

L: Yea of course!

A: It was so funny 4 years ago, when we beat Mexico

L: I didnt watch that game

A: You should have watched the faces of the Mexicans, they were SO pissed off!!!!! But what’s so funny was that we Americans didnt even care! The US doesn’t care about soccer! Nobody even cared about the world cup in the states yet we beat the Mexicans! First we took California away from them now we take the quarter finals qualification from them! Hahaha! But no one even cared when we won! Nobody cared AT ALL! Nobody even watches the Soccer world cup in the states…. We got at least 4 bigger sports which we excel in! American Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey….. Think about it, if the states really do care about soccer and invest on it like the 4 other sports, how good can we get? We will kick Brazil’s ass big time with no sweat!

L: Yea right

A: Do you watch soccer back home?

L: Not a lot

A: Apparently Asian soccer sucks ass

L: Apparently Korea got 3rd place

A: Which Korea? North Korea???

L: South

A: Ha ha ha!! I was just kidding!

L: Anyway the SOUTH Korean team got a higher ranking than USA

A: Hahaha.. anyway….

Forgot the rest of the conversation. Well, I don’t care. I was trying to read. Noticed that American didn’t get I was trying to concentrate on my book and was trying to ‘fu hin’ him? And they dont get sarcasm

WELL, if you AMERICANS don’t even care about soccer, why do you watch and talk about it? If you AMERICANS don’t even care or watch the games at the end of the day, why did you go for the preliminary rounds in the first place??

Okay, since you AMERICANS don’t care about it AT ALL, I take that Italy Ghana and Czech Republic will kick your ass big time with no sweat. Shut you out.

Then hide my passport.
